20 YEARS OLD, HUE- SAI GON
You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, love like you’ll never be hurt, sing like there’s nobody listening, and live like it’s heaven on earth. ― William W. Purkey
WHAT ARE SOME CRAZY THINGS TO DO IN YOUR LIFE?
When I was a student in high school. My friend asked me that: What was the crazy thing in my life? I didn't have any ideas at that time.
Until I was 20 years old, I decided to do something, I wrote some to do on my list such as:
* Sing in front of a crowd with stranger people.
* Watching a film alone in a cinema
* Falling in love with a guy
* Drunk with friends a party
* Learn a new instrument and a new language
* Involve non-profit social activities
* Long-distance bike ride, etc.
In the summer of 2016, I decided to do a long-distance bike ride. This journey is about 20 days with my friends.
LET START!!!
The bike in my journey ( Huế- Sài Gòn about 1,049 Km)On 12/7/2016, I started the journey at Hue city, Where I have been studying at university. I met friends, who would go with me on this journey. They had started the journey from Ha Noi capital and met me at Hue. We started moving to Da Nang at 7 a.m, that was next destination. This distance is about 110 km. Let move to Da nang, You can go by 2 ways
* The first way: You can go through Hai Van Tunnel ( Hải Vân Tunnel), Where is the longest tunnel in Southeast Asia at 6,28 km, lies on Highway 1 between the two cities of Da Nang and Hue.
Note: To go through the Hai Van tunnel, You must move by bus, train.
* The second way: You want to move to Da Nang by another vehicle like a motorbike, bicycle. You can choose Hai Van pass, that you go through.
Hai van pass is approximately about 21 km long mountain pass on National Route 1A, near Bach Ma Mountain, with heigh about 200 meters. Moving by motorbike or bicycle above the Hai Van pass is so amazing. One side is Bach Ma Parka and one side is Lang Co Beach. This landscape is beautiful. However, We tough with some dangers like: big trucks, fogs, dangerous bends.
Honestly, In the first stage, I was almost exhausted. Coz, The weather was so hot, the road was long and rough At that time, I used to want to give up and turn back Hue. However, my friends encouraged me: " Fighting Van Anh, fighting". These sentences helped me try my best to target the destination.
In the past, I went through many times Hai Van pass. But, This was the first time I moved by bicycle. My first destination was Linh Ung Pagoda ( Vietnamese call Chùa Linh ứng, which is a famous spot in Da Nang). We arrived at 8 p.m. After that, we were personal hygiene and prepared for dinner. To make sure good healthy for the next day, we would early sleep before 11 p.m.
A photo was taken by my friend ( This is me)
I saw the "Nomadland" film, Which tells about the nomads who lived in mobile cars. Having a lot of reasons to their choose this lifestyle. One of the reasons, they decided to live with it was to explore more things outside. They had to do work for all life. So, They didn't want the rest of life to live in hospitals and nursing homes. Each person has their own choices. This idea can be to do on my list when I am old.
We used to be the same as nomads. Start the journey at 7 A.m with all stuff on a bike and rush to the front to explore new things. The destination was unstable, The best way was to sleep outside on the big cloth. Sometimes, It's an inconvenience for us. Coz, It's quite cold. However, We can see a lot of stars in the sky.
I remember, In the early day, I cycling quite slow. My friends always waited for me. Somethings troubles, Which I saw with my bike such as damage some things make me worry. I felt burn my skin by sunshine when I cycling. But, Everything would be Ok
The journey lengthen 20 days, we moved through: Huế- Đà Nẵng- Hội An- Quảng Nam- Quảng Ngãi- Bình Định- Phú Yên- Quy Nhơn- Khánh Hòa- Nha Trang- Lâm Đồng- Đồng Nai- TP. HCM. The journey finished on 08/2016 in Ho Chi Minh city. My friends continued our journey to Ca Mau. I learn more things from this journey. Many times, when I saw ramp roads. Then, the high wind interfered with pedaling speed. This make dissapoint myself when I was exhausted. The best way to through it, I didn't give up and try to put all my strength in my feet to get pedal power. I also encourage myself: " I can do it". Just like that, I did it. These difficultes made me more strong spirit and more mature.
I had good memories and friends, which I will have been never forgetting.
